Your first car, it really depends to me how you drive... but I honestly think kids should all start out with an older car so they understand how cars really drive compared to all of these cars with electronic safety and whatnot. i.e 80s or early 90s cars. ABS, TCS, etc. A beginner (in my point of view) should learn how to drive without those things to understand how they work and help you. But I think that way because I like to push my car to the limit a lot. I don't like the electronics.

Far out, my dream car Mini Cooper
epona910 on August 28, 2008 at 8:01 pm
I was looking into a toyota (my dad is japanese so he is of course for japanese motors) but the mini gets the same mpg as corolla and starts at 16-17k. My mom who grew up in the 60's want me to get the mini...

actually the mini cooper s gets the same exact mileage as a toyota corolla does, and the stock mini cooper gets even more. i can agree that you save 4,000 dollars on a japanese car, but on the other hand they have shabby crash test ratings and they just dont have the BMW quality of a mini cooper.

That is about the stupidest most ignorant comment I've ever heard!!
Since when being an American became a "fault"
I too like foreign things but the mini happens not be one of them.
Its overpriced, front wheel drive, less MPG than a compact Japanese that cost half.
In my opinion this car is for over-consumerized buyers.

Civic corolla (exclude Si) is for practical family transportation, while Mini-cooper is a true driving motoring machine. Let's motor :).

Why?? If you want a small, economical car why a mini-cooper? A Honda civic or Toyota Corolla is so much more practical. All it pulls off is 19mph tops more than an average sedan, and it starts at over 20k? Are you serious? Many of my friends who owned them had engine trouble with them, some were lemons.
